Choose toys with your pet in mind.

The best starting point is your own pet: their size, age, and the way they like to play.
Match the toy to the player
A toy should be appropriately sized for your pet. Avoid small pieces that could be swallowed and materials that can splinter. Look at how the toy is made, rather than relying on a claim that it is indestructible.
Make checks part of playtime
Supervise a new toy at first. Check it regularly for loose pieces, broken seams, or other damage, and remove it when it starts coming apart.
Keep a little variety
Try a mix of interactive play and puzzles suited to your pet. Rotate toys to keep familiar favorites interesting.
